All Substitute Teacher Applicants
1. Complete an on-line application. Enter data on
each tab, click the Save option at the bottom of each tab. You MUST
complete the Submit App tab which requires you to respond to
background/disclosure information and release your application;
2. Record three (3) Professional References in
your online application (References tab);
3. Apply for a substitute position (Within your
application, Click Open Jobs in the Menu);
AND
4. Must hold
at least one of the following certification types to begin the
application process:

Hold a Georgia Substitute Teacher Certificate or a letter
stating you have attended a Substitute Teacher training in a
Georgia county.

www.mgresa.org

Hold a current or expired Certified Teachers Certificate
-
Hold a current Paraprofessional Certificate and have
served in the classroom at least one full year.
Application Process for Houston County Substitutes:
Step One:
Provide verification of at least ONE Certification Requirement
from above list.
Step Two:
Attend a mandatory orientation of “The Houston County Way” at
the Houston County Board of Education.

Note: The only exemptions for not attending this meeting are
either former HCBOE Teachers or
former HCBOE Paraprofessionals.
Step Three:
Once you submit your completed online application and the
materials required as noted herein, it typically takes
about 2-3 weeks to process your request to be added as a
substitute employee. You will be notified once your application
is processed. If you are approved, you will receive other
documents regarding “The Houston County Way”
Orientation to complete the substitute hiring process.
