Paraprofessional Requirements    Quick Links 
 

All Paraprofessional Applicants must complete the following items to be considered for a position at Houston County Board of Education:

1. Complete an on-line application. Enter data on each tab, click the Save option at the bottom of each tab. You MUST complete the Submit App tab which requires you to respond to background/disclosure information and release your application;

2. Record three (3) Professional References in your online application (References tab);

3. Apply for an open position (Within your application, Click Open Jobs in the Menu);

AND

4. Meet the following requirements for paraprofessional positions:

 

  • Must be Highly Qualified pursuant to the Certification Requirements for Georgia Paraprofessionals which require that the applicant:

 

  • Hold at least an Associate's Degree (in any subject); OR

  • Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (60 semester hours); OR

  • Have passed a PSC-approved paraprofessional assessment* (GACE). If eligibility is established through assessment, the applicant must also hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Transcripts of college course work OR verification of a passing score on the PSC-approved paraprofessional assessment* (GACE) must be on file with the Human Resources Department.
